My laptop is Toshiba model L655-S5168. It runs on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I bought this hard drive to replace a clone laptop shelf as one of the clone laptop shelf spares recently started going bad (SMART test flags). This item arrived in sealed packaging. I booted my laptop (outside of Windows) from the Windows 7 "Recovery" CD to do a quick (about 5-10 seconds) "cleanup" of the disk using the "Clear" "Diskpart" command from the CMD prompt to execute. This is a precautionary measure in case there are some items on the disk (data, files, partitions, etc.). After that I booted from a 3rd party "Rescue" CD (cloning and imaging) and cloned the original hard drive to the new Toshiba. Hard disk. The new Toshiba hard drive cloned with no problems and booted into Windows 7 with no problems. I ran the laptop on a new hard drive for a while to make sure it was functional. Everything was in order. Now it's on the shelf as one of the replacement parts for my cloned hard drive. I ran a SMART test to ensure the drive was purchased as a new hard drive. The SMART data showed that this drive was new (on in the clock, etc.).
