My Congo African Gray loved this bass straight away and uses it every day when he wants to rest. It's very easy on his legs as he has a natural slight curve that allows him to relax his legs while still feeling like he's sitting on a large branch. In the wild, parrots perch on both thin and thick branches, so give them this variety of perch sizes. This bar diameter is not found anywhere else as it is also quite compact and will work even in a not so large cage. This is a lightweight softwood perch but I find it very durable due to its long lifespan. It's late March and my parrot has been using the same perch since mid to late December. I haven't had to change or even reconfigure anything. My parrot weighs 1 pound. I didn't attach the bar to the cage bars too tightly because I didn't want to break the hardware, but it stays in place very well. Overall great product, thank you.
