Fits 2010 VW Routan SE 3.8L

A week or two ago my side window on the driver's side broke. I ordered this window regulator because he said it was for my VW model and it fits! After watching a few YouTube videos on how to replace this part I did it. In fact, this is the work of 1-2 people. If you're an expert on cars, maybe a one man job. I'm not a handyman or mechanic, but I'm happy to try, especially when a $30-40 product can save me from spending $300. After removing the driver's side door outer panel, unscrewing the two screws, the window regulators, and detaching the panel (which isn't as easy as it looks in the YT video), you now have an inner black panel to deal with. Once inside the inner black panel you will need to open the round black flap on the left side of the panel to access the left window regulator and the white clip that holds the left side of the window. You then need to remove the speaker that allows access to the right power window and the white clip that holds the right side window. Wiring, loosen the black plate screws and make sure you have painters tape to tape the window to the door so the window doesn't fall off when you finally remove the old adjuster. At this point you need to push back the white latch to release the window. Make a tie for the left and right side, then unscrew the power window. Keep in mind that I didn't disconnect everything from my panel because I couldn't reach them. Love how easy it looks in some YouTube videos, but don't worry, you can replace the old regular with the new one if you have a second assistant. My 12 year old son helped me hold one side of the black panel while I removed the old regulator that had just fallen on the floor. Then install the new regulator in the same mounting locations and while your assistant holds the window, slowly begin to remove the tape and carefully slide the window down so the holes meet the new white clips in the newly installed regulator . Once that's done, reconnect the motor and answer the power window control box you removed at the start and turn on the ignition to test your windows to see if what you installed works have, worked or not. If everything is working fine and the Indian is pacing, turn off the pilot, disconnect the power window control unit, go back to the black panel and start replacing everything you removed: panel screws, wires, speakers and exterior cladding. Hope that helps. My only concern right now is how durable is this product?!? The time will show?. The original lasted up to 130,000 miles where my car is now. If this new regulator breaks within a year, is that much $30-$40 enough?!? Hope it lasts as long as the original.
