I'm replacing a 10 year old GE under sink filter with this APEC. I chose this one because it had threaded connections and my GE had leaks on non-threaded connections. Installing APEC was pretty easy as far as the product is concerned. My problem was the cramped space under the counter where I connected the supply line to a faucet on the side of the counter. I added a check valve between the angle stop and the line to the filter so I can isolate it when it's time to change the filter. APEC has been running for about two weeks now, the water doesn't taste of chlorine and makes great coffee. The water in my city is quite hard (dissolved minerals) and the GAC filter doesn't "soften" the water even though it claims to filter out 90% of iron, lead, copper and so on, but I can't say, I notice that the smell/taste of chlorine is gone. Happy so far, let's see how long it lasts. The insert says 6 months to 1 year depending on usage and water conditions.
