was previously damaged so great. Got it today. The head was safe. (yet.) Doesn't look like it's going to come loose and I've heard some may need service upon arrival. It's not like this. The roughness of the hickory handle has been placed at the perfect angle. The edge seemed standard when I bought it, sharp (slightly dull) but immediately after hitting the test wood (black walnut) I realized it was the clear coat they wore that set them up for the shipping dulled. As soon as you bite into the wood, the clear coat will flake off in places, leaving a relatively sharp edge. Maybe not a very close shave, but it's not as far as I thought it would be. The edge angle seems to be around 18-20 degrees, making it sharper than anything else, so I'm happy with that. For the price I am very and positively surprised. Sugar maple in 5 chops, immediately after the edge protector.
