Description of 🪓 Cold Steel All-Purpose Axe: Ideal for Camping, Survival, Outdoor Activities, Wood Cutting, and Splitting

Featuring a European style head with a 4" blade and a 4 1/2" cutting edge. It takes a big bite with every swing. Plus, it features a very sturdy, durable straight-grained American Hickory handle. In our extensive field-tests in the outback of Australia, the Trail Boss was used to chop kindling. Clear roads and trails, to build blinds and even to chop down a fair sized tree.

My choice for hiking.

I had mixed feelings about ordering one of these Trail Boss axes after reading the reviews, most of which were therefore very favorable. I decided to bite the bullet and buy one, I'm glad I did! I was very happy with what I received, it was as good as one could ask for. it's a bit more, there were no stains and the fit of the handle on the eyelet was tight, the grain orientation is perfect!. This ax really bites and tears through every task you perform. This tool is going to be my favorite…

Broken in four swings

I bought this ax in preparation for a hike because I heard a lot of good reviews. On the trip they decided to cut down a 6 inch thick dead pine tree for firewood. I broke off my new ax to show the boys, and then by the fourth clean cabin, the head fell to the ground, separated from the handle. Of course I was incredibly disappointed, especially since the return period had expired at this point, but I would like to attribute this to a one-off manufacturing defect and rewrite this review in case…

Excellent purchase! for hand tools

Works like a boss! If it came with a case I would give all 5 stars! So I made my own PVC case for it and it came out great. Dozens of times with this ax, it has maintained its performance and durability. It was not difficult to sharpen, the head did not unscrew, the handle did not suffer. Love the weight grip length and the design that you can take anywhere and get the job done reliably! I sanded the hickory handle and dyed it a shade darker to bring out the beauty of the hickory, then glued…

I have ordered more. Still bad product

2nd ax came "good" sharp. A few minutes with rock and edge would be nice. The ax head is offset from the center by a good 20°. The fiber orientation is 45° off-centre, which can be good without a core. nope! I think this pin will break in a dozen hits. My conclusion: Do not buy this ax. 2 bad of 2 bought. He comes back for a refund. I wanted that axe. It felt good in my hands. But there was a patch on the head that looked like it had fallen off and become a ridge at the top. The wood had…

So far so good! Best in Gardening and Lawn Care

was previously damaged so great. Got it today. The head was safe. (yet.) Doesn't look like it's going to come loose and I've heard some may need service upon arrival. It's not like this. The roughness of the hickory handle has been placed at the perfect angle. The edge seemed standard when I bought it, sharp (slightly dull) but immediately after hitting the test wood (black walnut) I realized it was the clear coat they wore that set them up for the shipping dulled. As soon as you bite into the…

Diamond in the Rough

Okay, let me be the first (not really) to say that I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this axe. The price tag was a bit of a warning sign, but I proceeded with the purchase anyway. I'll skip the small talk and get to the point, this ax didn't arrive very sharp, the paint and lawyer on the handle sucked. BUT with a little time and effort, this piece truly becomes a diamond just waiting to shine. Advantages: 1st price2. The ax head is heavy but well balanced overall.3. The handle is the…

My second Trail Boss

I bought my first Trail Boss in 2015. I removed the paint from the head and the varnish from the handle. After a little filing and stone work I got what I wanted. Fast forward to this week and my buddy used it to cut branches off a fallen tree during a storm. He wouldn't shut up as it's the perfect height and weight. He's a big guy and can easily turn it with one hand. I saw the price on it and thought I might buy him one too. Trail Boss is a diamond in the rough. The materials are good and the

i wanted to love him Defective, disappointed : /

April 2019 update: This is the second Trail Boss I've had. You can read about the first one below. The only picture for this update is that the handle is broken into pieces. So first I have to say that this ax is a great deal and really cuts through wood BUT I wouldn't recommend it if you chop, split or buck a lot. If you enjoy limbing or light felling of trees 6" in diameter or less, this ax is for you. To be honest I buy tools that will be used and used hard. oak, hickory) Trees with this…
