I used to use a lot of punches, mainly to punch new holes for belts. The poorest of them have a rotating wheel with stamps of different sizes. Everyone suffers from not making a clean cut, requiring extreme force to push the piercer through skin, and loading the piercer with partially cut pieces of leather. Another complaint from many punches I've tried is that they dull quickly and don't have the means to sharpen them. after 10-20 uses of the same perforator on thick skin was no longer a need. Hit the punch, no cleaning required as the material simply falls out of the open center position.
