Use screen glue!
This was my first attempt at stenciling recently. I glued the stencil on and used a stencil brush. Although I also held the template, the results weren't very good. It took a lot of rework. Since the stencil is quite thick I would use stencil glue and hopefully get better results. I like the design and now it looks good.
