Great idea but doesn't work in cold weather

We have had this door for over a year now and have encountered a number of issues which we hope the manufacturer can fix. The advantages are, on the one hand, that the double sashes provide good protection against the wind through the door. The installation isn't bad, but choose a spot on the door that doesn't have a designer panel or plan to fill it with foam. The sliding locking plate that comes with the kit slides easily from either side, which is good as there are downsides here. The clear plastic panels become rigid when it's cold outside and won't return to the closed position when a breeze blows. They curl at the bottom and don't close, providing continuous traction. They must be closed manually or inserted into the lock bezel. One of the reasons they don't close is that the floating magnets on the bottom stop working after a while. In fact, one got stuck for a week and the other got stuck shortly after. This is because dirt from dogs' paws collects in the slots next to the levitating magnets, blocking them in the down position. The dirt is difficult to remove and I finally gave up. As a result, when the wings are twisted, the metal on the underside of the wings will not be attracted to them and will not return to their original position. They work better in warm weather but we don't think they close when the wind blows in winter and need to close them when we're not home. Let's hope the manufacturer can use a plastic that doesn't get as stiff in the cold and redesign the floating magnet mechanism.
