We love KFC but wanted to make it ourselves to reduce the fat content and improve the taste a bit. I found a recipe on YouTube (easy to find) and tried it. It tastes great (really good!), but cooking with oil requires a constant temperature. We bought this thermometer a bit worried based on the reviews that it would break easily. We found this helped us keep the oil at a consistent temperature, which promotes even cooking in the pan. We've read that some plastic thermometers melt when attached to a pot of hot oil, so glass was the right answer for us. It feels a bit light so let's be careful with it, but overall it works well!
