Like many children, my little son especially loves his shoes. At age 4 he had a learning curve, but by age 5 he was quickly learning to put them on himself, adjusting the straps to his liking and then taking them off again. He can also run at full speed like he's wearing running shoes! (I'm worried he'll trip and try to brake it, but he hasn't tripped or fallen in.) His pair still look brand new after some use, but he's outgrown them. So let's buy a big pair now. They seem to have more arch support than the popular Hurricane XLT2 so we also got a pair for his older (9 year old) brother who has outgrown them. And since the Big Kid size is larger for me, I'll try a pair on myself and compare to women's Tevas.
