The Boye Needlemaster set appears to have been manufactured by Wm Wright Co. about ten years ago. in the USA. It also appears that Simplicity bought the rights and outsourced them to China. You can see the difference between the kits: Simplicity labels the sleeve of their kit with the Boye name; vintage US Boye sets come in a plain brown case; Both sets look the same except for color differences. Those Chinese made needle tips, the part people loved, are a lot less smooth now than the old ones. And if you can figure it out: My old American Boye cables fit Chinese made tips. BUT my old Boye tips will NOT fit the new Chinese cables. This size difference also means that the small Chiaogoo adapters that many people use to adapt old American Boye lugs to Chiaogoo's excellent cables will not work with these Simplicity branded lugs, which is why you're stuck with Boye's hard cables. I gave it a two star rating because while you can actually knit with it, you might do better with other brands of needles. [Another thing for those trying to understand the different versions of these needles: there is a VERY old version of this set and it looks very different. I don't know the details, but the sizes and specifications are different.]
