Review on 🌡️ Derale 13011 Fluid Control Thermostat Kit: Enhance Efficiency & Temperature Control with Silver Solution by Mark Hamblin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good liquid thermostat,

I have an old automatic transmission truck that doesn't get hot in the winter because of my short commutes. It's a 2001 GMC 2500HD with a factory auxiliary radiator up front, and there's no chance the transmission will get to a decent operating temperature in 15 minutes of winter driving. This seems like a good solution. I've had the thermostat installed for about a week now and although it's not winter it's still cool weather and the transmission gets hot very quickly and so do I. searched. The thermostat unit itself is a good thing, the instructions are quite good but basic. The only major issue I had was with the aluminum hardware. It was probably user error, I used a very good thread sealant when reassembling, but the sealant is old and should have been mixed better before use, hence the fittings were leaking. I definitely tightened the hardware up quite a bit because it pulled the strings when I took it apart and checked again. I ended up buying some heavy duty brass spikes from my local NAPA that matched perfectly. The only other oddity for this kit are the mounting holes on the thermostat. They are very close to each other and at the end of the block. Derale sells a mounting kit separately, but it's not very cheap, and my own solution was probably the heavier one anyway (definitely cheaper). You can look at the pictures to get some ideas on how to install this thing. I also wrote an article about the installation on silveradosierra dot com.
