Black anodized aluminum hardware

Not installed yet but looks good. The only difference I noticed from the picture is that the fittings screwed into the body appear to be brass. The actual hardware is black and looks like plastic. I called the company and they told me that the fittings are not plastic but anodized aluminum. If you don't believe me, try throwing one on the table and you'll hear the sound of metal and plastic. I agree, but it should be in the description.

  • Impressive

Go get some brass fittings. Not included in the delivery. (Fits Tacoma 2004)

Thermostat does what it's supposed to. The fittings in the kit were leaking no matter what I did. I threw them away and grabbed the brass parts from Home Depot. Fixed leakage issues. Wasted a full two hours with a bit of trouble accessing tstat to fix these leaks. I used a piece of aluminum flat bar on the radiator shroud bolts to mount the thermostat. I bypassed my heatsink so my leads go through a hole in the main AC line bracket.

Works exactly as expected

This worked great for my custom cooled car. It has never heated up (always pushing oil through the radiators). It heats up pretty quickly now and does an excellent job of keeping my coolers from overheating. Make sure you get the right temperature to open. It is rated for 180-195F (start open to fully open) which is ideal for most standard automotive oil systems. Be sure to purchase the bracket http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XOQ9VS/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 which makes it very easy to…

it works! you need that if you install a transmission cooler

ok so the thing was actually more expensive than the cooler itself but in my opinion absolutely necessary when installing an external transmission cooler. If it gets cold and you're not towing, you're never going to get the fluid temperature right without it, and I believe there's such a thing as a gear oil that's too cold. With this thermostat, my trans temp goes up to 175 and stays there whether I'm towing or not. Easy to install and I bought the brass hardware separately based on other…

Derale 13011 fits spares

Very happy with Derale 13011 thermostat and mounting bracket (bracket to be ordered separately). A few years ago I bought a used Chevy 2500HD 6.0L a few years ago and my heat is sluggish, outside temp 110*, in stop and go traffic my trans temp never went above 215*. I wanted to drop that a few degrees so in the middle of summer I installed a really cool 40k transmission cooler and all summer I never saw the transmission surpass 165*. Fast forward so far, the outside temp is 50/60 and my gear…

  • Stylish and modern design

Better than running without a thermostat. But.

I have been running this unit in 30-50F degrees for a week now. It keeps the trance between 140F - 160F versus 100F - 110F with no thermostat. So it's an improvement, but I wish it was closer to its 180-degree Fahrenheit temperature rating. Part of the problem with this block is that it delivers a claimed 10% fluid flow through the transmission cooler, regardless of transmission temperature, to prevent air lock and cavitation. I understand it's necessary, but if it were 5% vs 10% I think it…

Good liquid thermostat,

I have an old automatic transmission truck that doesn't get hot in the winter because of my short commutes. It's a 2001 GMC 2500HD with a factory auxiliary radiator up front, and there's no chance the transmission will get to a decent operating temperature in 15 minutes of winter driving. This seems like a good solution. I've had the thermostat installed for about a week now and although it's not winter it's still cool weather and the transmission gets hot very quickly and so do I. searched…
