I used to buy a Grundig Digta SonicMic - a direct competitor of Philips SpeechMike. The Grundig SonicMic was a great quality German product. It worked well. But in the end I decided to try Philips SpeechMike. I'm glad I did. It seems built specifically for speech-to-text dictation, the ergonomics are excellent, it feels good in the hand, and the buttons and trackball are responsive. The only downside, and this annoys me, is the Philips management. a program that must be installed in order to use the microphone really effectively. It's a little buggy, but only a little on my Windows 10 Core i7 machine. It's also constantly trying to update itself for the web and I'm trying my best I can't disable that feature. It bothers me. But the microphone itself is very solid, I haven't decided yet if I like it better than the Grundig Digta SonicMic, but I will say that the Philips SpeechMike LFH-3500 is a very high quality and well made microphone. If your budget allows, this is probably the best laptop you will find. If budget is an issue, go for Grundig because it performs almost as well as Philips but at a lower price. text function, it will work fine. After all, dictation is all about your eloquence and voice output. The hardware gives it the added edge in terms of accuracy. If you haven't learned to be accurate when dictating, the hardware won't help you much. But if you can reliably lower your dictation skills, then devices like this can definitely help you gain an extra edge.
