Review on Wireless Router ASUS WL-520GU by Athit Lordkaew ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The product is unreliable, it is not worth buying.

We buy this miracle, take a file - we refine it, and only AFTER this we get a more or less working device. A file means an alternative firmware (I settled on dd-wrt). With it - just do completely different indicators and the functionality itself. Vopschem I do not recommend products of this kind from Asus. For at work there are 2 units from the asus (WL-500G and WL-520G) and one from the d-link (dir-300). With asus, there are also permanent problems - and one and the second simply do not connect clients to the wafer and do not let them into the admin panel - they are treated by rebooting. Everything would be fine, but in order to reboot you have to strain yourself because they do not hang in the reach of an outstretched hand. D-link calmly rustles to itself, distributes the Internet . Vopschem if you want to take home a router in the direction of the asus, I do not recommend looking. The best option DIR-615 IMHO.

Pros
  • The only dosinsta - the price, appearance. Bought a long time ago, probably three years ago. In principle, if it's stupid to surf, it's normal.
Cons
  • It can't cope with torrents - the percentage is rather weak, it constantly reboots. Speed cuts on standard firmware. By faff through it within the network, a maximum of 2 - 2.5 Mb / s (not to be confused with Mbps). Over Ethernet - a maximum of 5-6 Mb / s. USB is just a printer. Recently, it refuses to reflash through the admin panel, only through the firmware recovery utility from asus.
