Review on ๐ŸŽฒ Quarriors Dice Building Game - Unleash Your WizKid Powers! by Jared Tovar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Funny but deadpan

In 2012, I was introduced to Quarriors by college friends. We played 3-5 games. Fast forward to 2021. I needed a relatively simple fantasy board game for a new group of friends, and it reminded me how much fun Quarriors was to play. Unfortunately, this was all nostalgia and made little sense. Pros: - Neat art. Fun art goes far. - The game is easy to learn compared to many deck building games. - Each monster has unique mechanics and there are different versions of the monsters, which makes the games more diverse. For example, you can get a version of a monster that steals enemy dice, or you can get a different version of the same monster whose attack value increases every time it kills an enemy monster. The game does a good job of that. Cons: - Randomness eliminates strategies. There is actually very little strategy in this game compared to many deck building games. Due to the weak strategy and the large number of monsters that can be bought in the game, Quarriors quickly becomes obsolete. It's like a game that's a bit empty without its add-ons (which I've yet to try). Conclusion: I think this is a very good game for teens/young adults who are just starting to build decks and games in a similar style with strategy. . As someone who has played them extensively since 2012, I was disappointed to return to Quarriors after almost 10 years and felt it lacked strategy and replay value.
