In my view this is definitely a "high end" knife. I'm sure you could spend more (there's always a more expensive way to peel an apple) but this knife is amazing! It is very sharp and holds the edge very well. It has more weight on the back than many knives (exactly how I prefer it, although your mileage may vary). It complements a quality chef's knife well. I usually reach for this knife when I'm cooking or need to do a bit of chopping. If I don't need a big edge, this is always my first choice! I highly recommend buying this knife and a chef's knife or a santoku knife (Japanese chef's knife). The Classic Ikon pen fits my hand like a glove. My wife agrees, and she has much smaller hands than me, so it's pretty much "one size fits all".
