I may be late for the 9 speed game but I am happy with this cartridge. I was considering switching from my original 8 speed to a 10 or 11 speed, but the payoff would be noticeable in gear ranges I don't use often. Here on the Illinois prairie I spend most of my time with a large chain (44 teeth) and an 11, 13, 15 or 17 cassette. On particularly steep slopes only 30 and 34 gears are used (rarely). Works very well with the new shifters and rear derailleur and feels lighter in my hand than my old 8 speed. I don't see another update anytime soon.
