You don't stay. Well glued
This has happened to me before and I should know better now. They would provide some gliding on the carpet. After about 5 minutes they climbed onto the chair leg. I pulled out the glue (and some of the fluff that comes with it) and used some double sided tape left over from some LED strips I had installed and "Bam!" it worked. However, I didn't have to reverse engineer anything to get this to work. Hence the two stars.
