Love, love, love this product! I got it right on the first try. I find this to be a much better way to break up raw eggs as well as soft-boiled eggs. I think putting the egg in the egg cup is helpful for consistent results. I love that there isn't a spring to break - the only moving part is the ball. The Clack is made out of durable material and should last us a lifetime so I think it's worth the price. Note: We've experimented with breaking both the narrow and wide ends of the egg - works great either way. Update: I read another reviewer's comments that Clack doesn't work with healthy shell eggs (i.e. organic free range eggs). . I use free range organic eggs and have no issue with cotton. Perhaps the reviewer put his fingers on the cone as he threw the ball. Even the lightest finger pressure on the cone prevents the ball from suddenly lowering, causing the egg to crack. I place the egg in the egg cup, ideally small end up, then hold the latch on the top handle. With the other hand I pick up the ball and release it. The egg slices perfectly. I use it for raw eggs and now I don't have to worry about the yolks breaking or shell bits getting into the mixing pot/bowl. I am posting a photo of the product to show the end result.
