Review on πŸ›’οΈ Enhanced GM Oil Pump Primer - CTA Tools 2101 by Preston Molden

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Two tools in one.: Replacement parts

Used the tool to fill a remanufactured 283 V8 engine after the engine was put back on the car. The job went fine, but if you do it again the engine will fill up before it was in the car simply because it would be easier to get. Also, use a tool to align the oil pump shaft with the distributor when installing the distributor so that the rotor is aligned with the #1 spark plug wire and the #1 piston is at top dead center with both valves closed. The top of the pickup tool shaft has marks that align with a slot in the bottom of the shaft, making it easy to make the necessary adjustments to the oil pump shaft to align the rotor to the distributor with connector wire #1 when the distributor is located in the fully seated position. Just remember that you will need to rotate the distributor back slightly from its final position, fully lowered and seated, as the gears on the distributor and camshaft will cause the distributor to rotate slightly when you put it back on the engine. I made a mark on the distributor cap base plate (dots and cap are also marked on the plate) at the location wire #1 position should be with the distributor in the final desired position and the other in the position for the rotor required. to compensate for the starting point of gear engagement. If the oil pump shaft slot was correct as adjusted by my hand by turning the fill tool, the distributor fell straight. I figured it would be a lot easier than using a screwdriver to turn the pump shaft as the tool aligns with the keyway in the pump shaft while the screwdriver always misses the shaft keyway. So you get two tools in one, both useful, cheap and well made.
