Review on Walker Ultra EPA 16096 Catalytic Converter: Engineered with Integrated Exhaust Manifold for Superior Performance by Julio Montano

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Ok part, a few minor issues

Installed this on a 2000 Civic to replace the original which had a cracked exhaust manifold, had a few minor issues1. The mating surface at the junction of the engine block and manifold was larger than the stock part, requiring the interface to the engine part to be ground to match at the driver's side corner2. The stud is welded, and one was not welded straight, place it with a hammer to straighten it3. Stabilizer bracket hole is unthreaded, had to buy longer bolt and nut4. The biggest problem is that the bolt is very soft metal and not the same size as the original bolt and it wouldn't be a problem if they included a nut. I didn't realize they were different until I tried tightening my original stud nut, which damaged some of the threads and ended up cutting new threads to the nut's original size with a die.5. The manifold and flange gasket were of fairly cheap quality. Having repairs fit well, I have bought a muffler and tailpipe from a Walker in the past and was very happy that this cat was fine. Maybe I should have bought a Dorman part, it's cheaper too
