The alignment tab is in the 9 o'clock position on the plastic pail liner. On the Jeep, the hole is at 12 o'clock, so the new bucket spring needs to be removed. This "spring" stops the rotation of the plastic bucket and door. When the "pen" is cut off the new bucket, there will be some movement/rotation. The old filler neck and plastic bucket gasket must be reused as the new gasket is too thick and will cause the check engine light for the EVAP system to come on. I have chosen not to return this item as I got too carried away with the project. I would not recommend this product due to improper installation and sealing. The fastener appears to be good, but the fasteners are not coated with fixative and must be installed by the installer. The attachment of the housing to the bucket/lid is also poor compared to the original Mopar non-locking gas door. If you are looking for a product that will make you swear while installing, then this is it.
