Review on πŸ” BOSCH D-Tect 150 Wall and Floor Scanner using Advanced Ultra-Wide Band Radar Tech by Jessie Ritchie

Not recommended for locating wooden posts behind drywall

a standard $20-$50 post finder would be worth it. the price is even 10 times higher than that of this device. Unfortunately for the type of work I typically do - finding bolts, pipes, etc. behind drywall - the Bosch D-Tech 150 was terrible. Not only was it no better than my $20 unit, it was way worse. So bad that it's possible the unit I received was faulty; skipping hairpins, giving one reading one minute and another the next. Even restrictions on directions don't inspire trust; Issues with hollow walls, objects too close, etc. Anyway, I won't try again and go back. Honestly I'm frustrated to get such poor results for the price. I haven't been this disappointed in a product in a long time. Note that I would easily give it only one (1) star, but I wasn't trying to detect objects in concrete or non-hollow walls. As others have reported good results with it, I assume it works great for this function. Great concept, but fails to execute to a shocking extent.

Pros
  • Seven detection modes: concrete (wet, dry, or deep), heated floors, drywall, metal, and signal type
Cons
  • Not everything fits
