Easy install for computers and accessories

Installed on a 2012 Mac Mini with the latest version of Catalina. Ethernet disconnected from Mac, connected to adapter and adapter connected to Mac. Worked right out of the box with no need to install a driver (unless it was an instant, transparent, automatic install). A recent update may have added the required driver to the base system. I'll try it out on my Big Sur test machine when I get a chance as that was my only caveat about the adapter (not a big one as the 2012 Mini doesn't work with BS). I don't know about the performance of 2.5 yet as my Switch 2.5 hasn't arrived yet. updated 18.10. My switch (QNAP QSW-1105-5T) arrived and installed with no problems. I plugged in the CableCreation adapter and the switch turned green (indicating a 2.5 connection was detected), but in System Preferences/Network the connection was listed as 1000baseT, not 2500baseT. I did a shutdown/boot but no change. I tried using manual settings but it didn't show 2500BT as the speed setting. I tried "autoselect" but it didn't affect the benchmarking, so I'm guessing that didn't work either. I switched to the driver from the RTL site when tests on the 1000BT showed extremely poor write performance, so I tried plugging it into my 2018 Mac mini (same version of Catalina) to use the bundled Catalina driver, but got the same result. The item can be returned until January so I will try CableCreation to fix it. Update 2 (still 18.10.) Driver downloaded and reinstalled. After a reboot it showed a 2500baseT connection which was confirmed. significantly improved performance. Not as fast and stable as the built in 10Gb adapter on a 2018 Mac Mini or the PCI-e card on my Windows 10 machine, but definitely better than 1000baseT. Maybe I missed something the first time installing the driver on Catalina, or it's "second time is nice".
