Easy install for computers and accessories

Installed on a 2012 Mac Mini with the latest version of Catalina. Ethernet disconnected from Mac, connected to adapter and adapter connected to Mac. Worked right out of the box with no need to install a driver (unless it was an instant, transparent, automatic install). A recent update may have added the required driver to the base system. I'll try it out on my Big Sur test machine when I get a chance as that was my only caveat about the adapter (not a big one as the 2012 Mini doesn't work with…

It quickly overheats and slows down to sub-gigabit speeds.

First I tested this on OS X Mojave, Catalina and Big Sur on 3 different machines and the results were the same on all 3. You MUST install the latest drivers from the Realtek website to get 2.5Gbe speeds, otherwise it will only work as a regular gigabit ethernet connection (and poor quality). To reiterate, if you don't install drivers, OS X's built-in drivers only work as a gigabit ethernet port. Seems to work. - Computers and Accessories

Summary: As far as I can tell, this USB Ethernet adapter works fine. I would recommend using the latest driver from the Realtek website. My initial review and subsequent update is below. So I plugged in this 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet adapter and made sure it negotiated the 2.5GbE uplink to my TrendNet 10GbE switch. It then initiated the transfer of a single 8GB zip file over the network.
