I bought these heat resistant gloves because I am a baker and some of the loaves I bake require very high heat and large heavy cast iron pans that were difficult to move with regular oven gloves and bulky silicone. Gloves. As soon as I saw them I knew I had to try them! These oven mitts are as pliable as I hoped they would be, making it easy to grip little hands and large, heavy cast iron pans without feeling like they're slipping out of my hand. They provide excellent coverage of the hand area, even on the backs of my hands, which often come into contact with the element on top of my oven when attempting to remove a large pot from the oven. I've even used these gloves to test cast iron pans on a grill where temperatures easily exceed 800 degrees and have been completely satisfied with the protection they have given my hands. I read some reviews before buying them and I have to dispel one of the claims that gloves don't protect hands from the heat. I didn't think that was true. Every glove and oven mitt I've tried has its limitations, silicone gloves are great but you can't hold a hot pan very long before it gets too hot and you have to put it down (and they're extremely bulky making it heavy figuring things out.) Traditional cloth potholders hold up a bit better than silicone ones, but they can burn and after a while you start to feel warm again. With these gloves I was able to hold a pan out of the oven that was heated to 550 degrees and as long as it was warm I was able to hold the pan longer than with traditional oven mitts or silicone gloves. My husband was so intrigued by the new addition to our kitchen that he had to try it on and pull the pan out of the oven for me (he totally believes it's AMAZING!). Honestly, the freedom these gloves give your hands and fingers while working with hot pans costs twice as much - for baking, it's a must!
