Made in China from borosilicate glass, this pitcher is simply beautiful. It's wide at the bottom, which makes it secure and won't tip over. The upper part is made of stainless steel and does not impart any flavor to drinks. Both the jug and stopper are dishwasher safe and I have washed them in the dishwasher several times. The opening is large enough to be easily hand washed if that is preferred. The silicone seal in the lid can be removed when cleaning to keep it completely clean. The silicone seal isn't tight enough to shake liquids upside down, but it's good enough to keep odors out of the jar. There are small holes in the top for you to strain while pouring, or an open larger hole for quick pouring of OJ with pulp or other beverage. Or a hard piece to close the lid in the fridge. My husband loves it for his OJ which he makes from frozen concentrate. We haven't tried hot drinks in it so we don't know how well it will work in the heat, but the listing says it will work fine. I have searched and found. Although borosilicate glass is more resistant to temperature changes than other types of glass, borosilicate glass can still will crack or break when subjected to rapid or uneven temperature changes." This is made from Pyrex. We have had no issues with this jug and we love it. This makes a great gift and I am sure it will be appreciated. Highly recommended.
