Review on Bushnell Engage X Binoculars 10X42_BENX1042 by Leo Torres

Universal; continuous; ideal for outdoor enthusiasts

The Engage X (BENX1042) is the entry-level model in Bushnell's Engage collection. Classic Engage, DX and X are available. Here is the difference in lens/prism coating technology: X: Fully Multi-Coated. All surfaces of the air-to-glass lenses (inside and outside) have multiple anti-reflective coatings; Bushnell's exclusive hydrophobic/oleophobic DX lens outer coating: same as X, plus a dielectric coating applied to the prisms for brilliant color rendition and 92% light transmission. The coating applied to the prisms improves resolution and contrast; The UltraWide Band anti-reflective coating process, tuned for each lens element in the optical path, delivers optimal brightness and true color across the entire visible light spectrumX is by no means entry-level of this low-end hardware. This is just the entry level for this collection - Bushnell offers other collections that meet a range of needs including tactical, hunting, gunnery, marine, sensitive light transmission and dynamic functions. The Engage is marketed as a versatile hunter-shooter hybrid. I chose the Engage X because I always knew Bushnell made quality glass. I can then attest to the brand's performance for his needs with other Bushnell models he has used. My father has Canon binoculars and I have always thought of them as a gentleman's travel accessory. I figured it was time to get myself a pair so I happily ordered them. I am not a hunter but they are perfect for everyday use when hiking, sightseeing, wildlife watching or people watching. The supplied neoprene and elastic strap is very comfortable, as is the protective cover. The binocular itself has an all-metal body with a rubberized finish for weather protection and ease of use. They are a good size, strong enough but optimized for packaging. They are heavy for their conservative 21.9 ounce size. And they're not super-compact and not budget-friendly. There is a belt loop on the case if you prefer to wear it on your hips instead of around your neck. Cosmetically, they don't look like hunting scopes, nor are they too useful to make it inappropriate for me to carry them in any setting and as a woman. They also claim to be made from eco-friendly, lead-free glass. The Engage X is guaranteed against fog, water, dirt and debris thanks to its Exo barrier. Engineered to offer IPX7 water resistance. Exit lens covers can be opened and closed independently and conveniently attached to the binoculars; The eyecup covers are connected but can be detached and attached to the neckband. In practice, when I tested it from a balcony to see the forested mountain range in front of me, the optics look very clean and clear and the details are impressive. I can get really good range and great magnification with it. The field of view is 305 feet at 1000 yards, according to the Bushnell website. I don't usually wear glasses so I can adjust the eyecups for comfortable viewing. There are also diopters for vision correction. The image is easy to focus and very stable. It can also be mounted on a tripod: just unscrew the cap marked "B" in the front center and attach the binoculars tripod adapter with 90° bracket (not included). I am very happy with these binoculars and looking forward to taking it with me on my next trip. Thank you Bushnell!
