If you use the right media, this is a good device.

I bought this after seeing a YouTube video where the content creator called it his "new favorite router". After a bit of research and the like, I decided to give it a try. I've been traveling the Midwest and needed something compact, yet easy to use, and I thought this fitted the bill. Then I actually tried to use it. First let me say that none of my problems were directly caused by this router, it was the carriers. First I tried using Cricket's wireless connection. I already had a 100GB data plan and was very happy with their service and reliability in my travels. That's when I found out that only phones and cricket machines work on their network. They say it's because of a policy change forced by AT&T, even though it was banned. So I figured if cricket doesn't work, AT&T must be wrong again! After visiting my local AT&T wireless store and telling the girl at work what I do and all I need is a SIM card; I left with my new AT&T account. After installing the SIM card, I was only able to receive 3G signals/speeds. It turned out that the SIM card was a 3g card, but the router technically worked. I went to another AT&T sore and explained my problem, a nice lady gave me a new 5g SIM and didn't even charge me for a replacement. After replacing the SIM I have NO signal and IMEI is not recognized. I called support and explained what was going on. The technician seemed to have a good understanding of what I wanted to do, but could not get the network to accept the IMEI from the router and allow the service. Let me add that before all this I checked the router's IMEI on the internet and it showed it was LG 3 or something. It was the phone's IMEI, AT&T defined it as not "eSIM compatible" but usable on their network. The tech told me she would open a case for my situation and hopefully it would be fixed within 2 or 3 weeks. this won't work for me. So a week later I canceled everything and went to the T-Mobile store to try again, third time charm right. Once again, I had a hard time explaining to their staff that all I needed was a phone SIM card and a subscription to their Magenta plan (phone and data). After what seemed like a long time and multiple assurances that I wouldn't hold them accountable if it didn't work out, they tricked me. Thirty minutes later everything was working as expected. PROS: Very nice user interface for changing settings and monitoring functions. The app is ok but not really needed. The radio supports all North American bands. There is SMS forwarding so any messages from your carrier regarding account information etc can be sent and read from your phone. You can also read and reply from the interface if needed. You can use an external antenna for better cellular reception if you want. have problems that may vary from case to case. So do your homework before proceeding. Those who might be more tech savvy might not see this as a huge problem, but for a novice user it can cause a lot of headaches. No automatic range setting for service, no problem if you're using at home or in the office once you've found the best range for that area, but for users who travel expect to change this frequently. The app was relatively easy to use but I find it easier to use the web address from my phone and all features are available, you can't use any AT commands from the app either. This can be very important if you need to change the band. Or check IMEI status, signal strength, etc. Bottom line: once this little guy is set up, it works like a charm. Be prepared for sellers not understanding what you are doing. They will attempt to set up a data-only plan, which may (or may not, depending on the provider) cause additional problems. For the price, this is definitely a steal and easily compares to more expensive options. The 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals are for older devices that may not use 5GHz (e.g. GPS and older streaming devices). The interface allows you to name networks, hide them, change passwords, etc. Just make sure your carrier is working fine first.
