Review on Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 225/65 R17 102S winter by Aneta Jaszczyk ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product, more pros than cons.

255/55/18 T tires on a Tuareg 3.0tdi. Before that, I drove on Pirelli ice&snow tires for six seasons and was satisfied with them until they wore out. Before then, I exclusively used high-performance winter tires, and they never failed me. I don't see the need in using friction (Velcro) for this kind of driving, and I don't get it either. Therefore, studs may emerge as a substitute, particularly given the availability of low-cost Pirelli in the H index. Only Koreans, Bridgestone, and Pirelli could be found at a similar price. Since, Pirelli did not accept. Even though they've only been around for 7 years, I found the design of the Ice&Snow to be a little stale, and the additional cost of $4,000. Although recommendations from friends and family were positive, the available test ratings did not give the Koreans high marks. I made up my mind to focus on the bridge because of its unusual design. After reading a comparison between the bridge and the Nokia R2 and soliciting feedback from friends on the dm-v1, I settled on giving the dm-v2 a shot. The price, country of origin, and advertised qualities all played roles in the final decision. If the first thousand kilometers are any indication, v2 is more like a typical winter than Velcro. I can't fully appreciate winter until we get some regular snow and ice. As long as they are the right tires.

Pros
  • Japanese-made, affordable, and well-rounded
Cons
  • increased fuel consumption to about 0.5 liters per hundred kilometers, deteriorated rolling, and tire noise became audible at 110-120 kilometers per hour (dry/wet asphalt).
