Review on ๐ŸŒพ Lawn Mower Siphon Pump - Efficient Syphon for Petrol, Water, Alcohol, and More - Manual Pumping (By Luigi's) by Robert Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for emptying my dog's baby pool!

I bought this pump to empty my dog's paddling pool every few days so it doesn't become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. I'm lucky enough to have a downspout near his pool so I left the "outlet" end of the pump in the drain and it works great. I placed about two feet of vinyl tubing from the hardware store on the "outlet" side so it was comfortably under the water inlet and the siphoning effect was strong. The extra hose may not be needed if the drain hole is at floor level. When I need to drain the pool I fill the pump with the outlet part and once it starts I just leave it alone for a few minutes and then the pool is empty when I come back. In the worst case, I may have to move the sheet and let it continue. Before I found it I had to water the basin far from the drain or scoop up some water with a bucket and then lug it across the sidewalk. Nothing interesting. I found this pump at a hardware store a few years ago and when it recently broke down (it lasted longer than I expected considering it was in the sun all summer) I ordered a replacement from Revane. I've tried a few other hand pumps - one with a bulb that didn't work well, and another that was supposed to start pumping water when shaken didn't work either. I'm very glad I found this and will definitely be buying this again in a few years when the weather is right. I must have used it at least a hundred times. It takes a bit of effort to prime the pump the first time, probably because I have an extension tube, but after that it only takes a few taps to get it started. For what it's worth, I never use the top handle. I think it stays in the "on" position, but maybe it's useful for removing liquids like gasoline that you don't want to run, I don't know.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Volume
