This is a fast burner! I got write errors and wasted four hard drives before realizing that this burner was faster than my computer (I have a Dell allll) so I set the write speed to just under the max for my hard drives and it works like a charm. Although it's loud, I didn't buy it for DVD playback, so whoever's complaining should look into it! This thing works. UPDATE: Well, a little over a year and hundreds of burns and this thing self-destructed. The drawer belt snapped and it froze. Went through the Windows troubleshooter and linked a driver update but to no avail. When I restarted my computer, the device LED came on and wouldn't go off. I had to pull it out and insert the old electronic machine drive. I'm not really going to say anything disparaging about any individual device, but I would recommend an extended warranty just in case. However, I downgraded my rating based on long-term performance. Update 2: All the dismissive idiots who thought I was complaining about a device, you obviously didn't really read the review. My comparison was with an old machine drive that was a few years old and I recommended an extended warranty if at all possible. PS belts replaced and still frozen.
