Review on Swissmar Lugano Cheese Fondue Set πŸ§€ - 9-Piece, Black: A Perfect Gourmet Delight! by Robert Farrar

Traditional fondue set, large and stable

Very nice traditional fondue set. This is an open flame version so you will need to provide your own gel fuel; it is not included. Please note that you can get this set in red pot, blue or traditional black. The internal ceramic coating is off-white as standard on all. Rechaud is a one-piece unit, plate, legs and heating platform. Components do not fall apart. Be sure to check the underside of your resho for any burrs or bumps. Mine had a pronounced metal burr on the bottom that was only discovered after it left a 7 inch scratch on the kitchen counter. Ouch. This quality control error is the only reason I am giving this product four stars instead of five. Setting up the burner is simple and easy, and the adjustable burner cap fits snugly and snugly in the lower bowl. The sliding ring on the burner cap moves easily, making it easy to regulate the flame. And the lid puts out the flame very quickly. The pot is made from beautiful and heavy cast iron and the handle gets hot but stays cool enough to hold during and after use. The pot heats up quickly and evenly, and when I used it, the contents of the pot didn't burn. The ceramic coating of the pot makes it very easy to care for. That was always the worst thing about making fondue, the unholy cleaning. This set is different as it cleans very easily and completely without scraping off burnt dirt and minimal cleaning. Documentation: You will receive a beautifully designed user manual in English, French and Spanish. However, it only contains two pages of information. The manual is accompanied by clear, annotated photos and instructions. It provides extensive contact information with addresses in the US, Switzerland, and Canada, as well as a URL and an email address. There is also a care/application/washing card and a recipe for a traditional Swiss cheese fondue on the back. Price: around $100, this is not a cheap set. There are many sets cheaper than this one. But the reason I bought this set is because it's almost identical to the one I remember trying Swiss cheese fondue for the first time in a restaurant in Gruyères, Switzerland, some 40 years ago. This is the real deal, authentic down to the traditional wrought iron resho. This set will last a long time. I think that's a fair price for this set. Bottom line: if you want fondue from a traditional set, this is what you need. It's big, sturdy and lasts forever.
