Great kit for learning cross stitch with

After watching some cross stitch tutorial videos I wanted to try it myself and started with this Colorful Cat kit. A few projects later and I'm ready to think about it. First, as others have pointed out, the fabric of this kit comes with an image printed on it, and the ink doesn't wash off as easily as the company claims. So if you're a cross stitcher enthusiast, this set probably isn't for you. However, the image printed on the fabric is AMAZING for a beginner. You don't have to worry about counting stitches and can just focus on getting the stitches right. The image has many large blocks of color so you can focus on those areas to complete the stitches, but there are enough smaller areas that you can learn to move on to other threads without getting frustrated. Also, I believe the fabric is 11k Aida, so the mesh of the fabric is coarse enough that you can easily place the stitches in the right place, but fine enough that the finished work doesn't look as blocky. I learned a lot working with this kit and I give five stars to anyone who wants to learn cross stitch. When you're done with that, you'll be confident enough to try your hand at a real counting set (something that doesn't have a picture printed on it). Also in the set there are all the necessary threads (mulina). I had loads of each color. The thread seems to be of good quality (not as good as the DMC brand) but good enough not to snag much and the colors are quite vibrant. So if you want to try your hand at cross stitch, this kit is probably one of the best places to start.
