I bought two of these anchors for some new posts added to a previously installed cedar fence. I'll admit I grimaced a little when ordering because the price was high, but I received my two plugs fairly quickly. As soon as they arrived I found that the build quality of the caps was excellent. I started applying cedar stain to them and found that the first lid was beautiful, pure cedar with no knots or stains, while the second had a few knots on the top and one of the sides had been repaired with wood putty. I guess you could say that the second lid literally looked like it was "second". However, after painting, the two covers looked almost the same and I was able to hide that part with wood putty and position it towards the side wall of the house. That being said, I believe that if you asked 100 people what they thought of the caps once in place, I doubt anyone would notice anything wrong, especially since the cap is at the top of a 10ft pole located, so 4 stars seemed appropriate. , and in case you're wondering, the instructions say to attach them with construction glue, but I think most professional fence installers just drive a nail into each side of the post.
