This was a $500 replacement for my Nighthawk X10 + X65 mesh (https://amzn.to/3dBPolG & https://amzn.to/2zZ3NtH) since it came straight out of the trash box. I've since seen them fix their router issues. It was very easy to set up, like oh my god, that's how easy, that's how easy everything should be. I usually take a few hours to set up the network, but everything was up and running in less than 20 minutes. I've been happy with the performance for about 6 months and the grid feature has been nice. I ended up installing 4 AI mesh routers in my house, one in each corner of the house. After 6 months the main router connected to my 1 gigabit fiber connection went down, all traffic stopped and it was a brick which was replaced with another AC1900 (all 4 routers in my setup are AC1900 FYI). Then another 6 months later the new router started to fail and got a 1 gigabit connection but only lost 200mb and 200mb. Oddly enough, it was the same router site again, the site that receives the signal directly from our ISP. So either this router doesn't work as a workhorse gigabit connection, or it's just cheap junk. Haven't decided yet whether to stick with Asus and try the RT-AC5300 (https://amzn.to/3gWDgO1) or switch back to Netgear. The only downside to this router, aside from what has been mentioned, is that the built in firewall will and will not block the obvious things it should have done. For example when it was blacklisted with sitenames to block and keyword filters and my teenage devices were set to "teenage accounts" but somehow blocked things like xbox live, windows updates, steam and blizzard , but p*hub is not blocked even if it is specially configured. Even though I've set it to block all internet traffic on certain devices at a given time, they're only blocked if the channel hasn't been set up before that time. For example, the internet was set to block activity after 12:00 PM, but if you were on Netflix at 11:59 PM, it would block it because the channel was already established, and only block new connections after that time.
