I seem to look far too often for my trusty CircuitMate DM25, a multimeter from Beckman Instruments that I've owned for more years than I can remember. Last time I left it to my brother in law when I really needed it. So I decided it was time to buy another counter so I had a better chance of having it on hand when needed. After researching a bit about the options available at Revain, I decided to order this Neotech model. I mainly use AC, DC, resistance and the audio continuity function as most of my fiddling is no longer at the PCB level where I might need capacitance measurement functions and this meter seemed to do everything I needed and looked a good choice. although the latter is an optional feature that I probably won't use. Upon receipt, a quick check revealed that the audio function was not working. Since I often need to trace and identify cables, this feature is extremely handy, especially in low light and awkward locations where the meter is difficult to see during testing. I contacted the supplier and a new meter came in the mail the same day. I received it in a few days and the replacement works as advertised. You couldn't ask for better customer service! What I really like is the fact that it comes with two sets of cables. A set of alligator clips can be very handy if there is enough space to use them as they essentially provide another pair of hands. The autoranging feature is nice, although it really just minimizes the number of switch positions needed since you usually know the magnitude of what you're measuring. The backlit display is a very useful feature. Not sure if LEDs even existed when I bought my other gauge! Not having to reach for a flashlight in a confined space is definitely nice. Even in minimal light, the display is big enough to see from a distance. And a small fold-out kickstand on the back is another very handy feature. The texture of the case and the shape of the counter also make it easier to hold. It's a bit thicker than other meters but for me the size is perfect as it's easy to manipulate with minimal controls. Comparing the voltage reading abilities with my Beckman, it seems just as accurate. The only slight downside is that the response time of this meter is a bit slower, especially when measuring lower voltage and resistance readings. It often takes a few seconds to establish a stable reading, while Beckman was almost instantaneous. But that's really not a problem for me. For my purposes this is a really good gauge for only $20 and hopefully it will hold up well. I am sure that because of the responsiveness, the supplier will solve any problem that may arise during the 18-month warranty period.
