Review on Revolutionize Your Cycling Experience with the Funn Descend Lower Headset by Kaylon Mackey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for turning an overdrive into a diamond!

I have a 2016 overdrive with 42mm inner diameter top and bottom. I would call the standard headset semi-integrated, meaning the top part is considered IS42 and the bottom is EC/44. You'll need to look up the headset standards to fully understand the naming convention, but of course the lower steering column needs to be rebuilt with this product will. Higher end bikes are usually standardized to 42/52 so they have a smaller head tube diameter and this part essentially does that for you. This means that in the future you can buy bearing spares or replace the headset with a stock 42/52 headset as the bearings will fit perfectly. You can also install newer and cooler forks. This part has a 40mm bore on a 52mm bottom bracket, allowing you to fit a modern tapered fork, meaning a steerer tube is 1 1/8" at the top and 1 1/5" at the bottom. This provides more stiffness and stability overall and also looks cooler than standard suspension forks from the factory. Note that this product adds approximately 12mm to the stack height at the bottom, which is negligible but a factor to consider. The same thing happens when you mount longer travel forks or bigger tires.
