Review on VR Robot Universal Infrared Controller Compatible by Norma Hoffman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Successfully controls my Mitsubishi Electric mini split system

I wasn't sure if this unit would support my air conditioner but I'm happy to report that it does. With this I was able to automatically turn the bedroom fan on at night and turn it off on a schedule in the morning. However, the device is only able to play back commands; it cannot understand the state of the system it controls (e.g. to be truly intelligent it needs a temperature sensor or other sensors along with that controller). This does what I wanted and therefore gets a positive result. review by me. However, there are some areas of polish/quality that cause me to give it 4 stars instead of 5. To earn 5 stars I would like to correct the following: 1.) No charger: positive, it uses standard USB. On the downside, though, they really should add a basic charger instead of offering you one of their own charging stations. The fact that the base charger is not included in the box can mislead the cost of the device. 2.) Quoted setup requirement for 2.4GHz WiFi only: I didn't actually need to turn off the 5GHz network for the setup to work (luckily my WiFi doesn't support 5GHz network switching). off), but the app instructs its users to endure the extra headache of turning off the 5GHz network (although apparently this is unnecessary). 3.) Translation Quality of Smart Life App: The app used to manage the system has an English interface, but the fact that it was not originally in English is obvious due to some translation quality issues. The authors of this appendix should complete the translations with an overview that puts the text in its context.
