Review on Lisle Slip Joint Filter Pliers 50950 by Sean Powers

Swim Spa PVC Water Connection

I have a hot tub. About once a year, one of the four plumbing fittings that go into the spa's jet pump needs to be tightened because it starts to leak. A service call from the company that made the spa costs $75. I was tired of paying that yearly bill, so I decided to figure out how to streamline the connection myself. The wrench was too bulky to be of much use as there was not enough room in the access area for the wrench. The channel block doesn't open wide enough to do the job. I had a large pair of pliers that opened wide enough, but I couldn't get enough torque to get the job done. Other creative ideas (like the strap wrench) didn't work for various reasons. After looking for a wrench I settled on a Lisle 50750. This wrench got the job done in about 30 seconds. Yes, using a Lisle wrench to connect plumbing in a pool would not be a typical application. But I am writing this review for this reason. The key is well designed. It was easy to grab the handle, the angle of the wrench was perfect for my job and also helps with removing the oil filter, it's solid. I tried a more subtle solution that didn't work. The grip on the end of the wrench that grabbed the plumbing was excellent! For this job I needed a male key. Lisle fits the bill.
