Aluminum may be fine, but the steel used for the clamp threads is very poor quality and the threads are not clean - meaning they grind a little as you screw the clamp in and out. Even take the drills out of the bag to check them out. I opened and closed the clip once and immediately put it back in the box. If you also need such a self-centering feature, there really is nothing better. Luckily my buddy Norm lent me one that he's had for years. The thread pitch on the clamp screw was much smaller than on this tool and you can tell the steel has been hardened. You can guess where it was made. return in a hurry.
