I installed this on my early 99 7.3 and it works great to connect the stock air intake to an Amsoil air filter. I was able to handle hill traction better without lowering the rpm to keep the EGT from blowing holes in my pistons. I used to have a 3" PVC elbow that worked satisfactorily but offers much better cross sectional area and a smoother transition from the filter to the intake manifold. Whether you're using an Amsoil cleanable filter or one of the Napa filters, this represents a great option for a much more open air intake with better airflow. You simply can't get better airflow unless you use a filter that more allows dirt to pass through the cough gauze. .
