Works great once you get the hang of it

I'm impressed with this device after figuring out how to set it up, but it took a little longer than me, although partly due to the nature of Microsoft Windows . I have a fairly complex setup - Win 10 and Win 7 laptops and a few Linux computers. I struggled with the instructions to the end until I realized most of the answers were there if you understand Chinglish. The first thing you need to know is that the mouse and keyboard initially have no power unless you have the "Hot Key" option enabled. on (green LED on). This gives them power, but they don't register with the host (windows or linux) until you toggle that switch off and on again after the first connection. THEN the mouse and keyboard will be powered by KVM even if the hotkey option is disabled. The next important thing to understand is the really AWESOME feature of this switch, which is the ability to plug a USB hub into the front USB port, which will then switch to any computer connected to the KVM is. All devices connected to this hub will be recognized by the target computer when it is switched on. THIS FEATURE ONLY WORKS IF the hotkey option is OFF. So be prepared to play around a bit to get all the KVM features working, especially on a Windows machine. . The Win 10 laptop took several power cycles (reboots), as well as plugging and unplugging the hub and going through the hotkey function mentioned above before things settled down.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Almost never
