This controller is very good, especially for the price I paid. This controller is designed to replace the classic Nintendo Wii or Wii U controller or Classic Pro controller. This essentially gives you a GameCube-style button layout that can be plugged into a Wii remote. This is NOT a Gamecube controller replacement. It doesn't have the same connector used on regular Gamecube controllers. So if you intend to use it with a Gamecube or connect it to a Gamecube for Wii U adapter or Gamecube ports on some Nintendo Wii models, it will not work for that purpose. The original classic Nintendo controller is very hard to find, so it is a good and cheap alternative to this controller. This controller comes in handy for playing Smash Brothers on Wii or Wii U systems as it plugs directly into the Wii remote and gives you a Gamecube controller layout that feels like a Smash Bros favorite. I really like the color on this shiny silver. The back of it is black. This is a light control that does not require batteries but is powered by the Wii Remote. It connects to the Wii Remote with a cable, so keep that in mind.
