typical Yaesu quality. As another reviewer mentioned, it appears to at least be waterproof, so you won't lose that radio feature just because you've run out of lithium batteries. a whopping 0.8 watts (as is the case with the FT1XD when powered by this battery pack) but for surveillance, short range simplexing or running a powerful repeater it will definitely come in handy if your 2200mah batteries are empty. I didn't get one for this radio (FT1XD wasn't cheap, nor did many other accessories I'd already added) but as it was the only radio without an AA package it annoyed me. Better to have and not need.
