A tracker is a device that rotates at exactly the same speed as the ground. With the axis aligned with the Earth's axis, you can take a tiny shot of the night sky without all celestial objects turning into streaks/trails. I got this to replace a very large pan/tilt/rotary head I have. It does everything I've used this head for and saves about 600g. The exercise is pretty simple: set up your tripod, use rotation and tilt to point to the north celestial pole (close to the North Star, but offset about 20 degrees toward Kochab). ). With a guide laser from MSM this is very easy. Both rotation and tilt are well fixed. A few hours into shooting I use the guide laser to make sure I'm still aiming correctly - and I do. Can't ask for more. Very good processing quality. My tracker, camera, and lens weigh about 5 pounds; I can't comment on how well this works with heavier gear, but I expect it to work well.
