Review on πŸ“€ Efficient 22X External Ls DVD-RW for High-Speed Disc Burning by Dan Barrett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bought this DVD player today. Will come back tomorrow.

Today I bought a Staples I/0 Magic 22x external DVD recorder. Looks like a great car, but the door won't open. My computer recognizes it. It lights up to show it's on. But when I click the button, nothing happens. The box cannot be opened. I went to "My Computer", right clicked on the DVD drive icon and chose "Eject". The drive then started making noise and tried to open but got an error message saying there was a problem. Bad start. If I replace this one with another of the same type, I will test it in the store first. The good thing about the I/O magic is that the support people take their calls! Also the awful Nero software comes with this drive but it is not required for the machine to work. I'll probably give it another chance and just trade it in for another one. If the box doesn't open a second time, I'll take a different brand. * This is my second attempt to get the DVD burner to work. I've tried HP before and got stuck with some kind of horribly inefficient software (Nero) and the HP support was a nightmare - nonexistent. Nero was just a gimmick that cost me $60 for a real film burning program. I am definitely NOT using the Nero software that comes with this I/O recorder. In any case, I think maybe this drive could work after all if I swapped it out for another of the same brand, but I'm very disappointed that it failed the first time. times I tried to use it.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
