This rack was highly recommended for ladder storage, and it definitely meets my expectations. The fit and finish are first rate. The padding on the arms seems durable, and will keep the ladders from moving around during our monthly California earthquake. It would also cushion a kayak or SUP nicely. I considered deducting 1 point for the hardware, but to be fair I did not use the enclosed lag screws so I don't know if the manufacturer has improved them. I used 1/4" x 3" lag screws I had on hand, probably from Home Depot. Installation required a stud finder, as my garage ceiling is finished. In an unfinished garage, installation would be simple. I used a socket set to drive the lag screws into the beams.The rack feels very sturdy. The long arms slope upwards toward the ends, making movement unlikely. I added a couple of bungee cords only because my wife worries about the ladders moving during an earthquake.
